Tiranga

  • 10

The Tiranga, India’s national flag, symbolizes the country’s freedom, unity, and rich heritage. Featuring three horizontal bands — saffron for courage and sacrifice, white for peace and truth, and green for prosperity and growth — it also bears the navy-blue Ashoka Chakra, representing justice, progress, and the eternal wheel of law. Adopted on 22 July 1947, just before independence, the Tiranga unites millions of Indians, reflecting the sacrifices of freedom fighters and the nation’s democratic values. Hoisted on national holidays and flown across homes and institutions, it is a powerful emblem of patriotism, hope, and India’s enduring spirit.
